The Lhasa Apso is a non-sporting dog breed originating in Tibet. It was bred as an interior sentinel in the Buddhist monasteries, to alert the monks to any intruders who entered.

Lhasa Apso Dog Breed Information and Personality Traits. Considered -easy keepers,- affectionate and a good companion, the Lhasa Apso was bred as a guard dog and therefore can be aloof, stubborn and demonstrate a sharp, loud bark. The Lhasa Apsos are long-lived dogs, routinely going into their late teens.
Lhasa Apsos have some health conditions that can be a concern, especially if you are not cautious about whom you buy from. They include hip dysplasia, juvenile renal disease, intervertebral disc disease and eye problems such as progressive retinal atrophy.
